Tamegroute is a village in South Morocco, right next to the Sahara.
In Berber, Tamegroute means last place before the desert.
Reknown for its characteristic green pottery and still using an ancient technique to make it. Baked in earth kilns made from the clay from the Dura river bed and using copper and magnesium to give it the striking and unique green colour.
7 families still make this pottery in this way, every family has their own oven.
Please note that the traditional method in which the pieces are fired, involves stacking which result in the tiny scars in the glaze. All adding to the charm of the piece. Every piece is different with its own imperfections, which makes every piece perfect!
